When deciding on your health insurance, keep these important distinctions in mind:
Individual Marketplace - Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans, sometimes referred to as Obamacare, are major medical health insurance plans that offer coverage. Depending on your household size and income, you may qualify for premium tax credits, or other cost saving options to help reduce your monthly premiums. However, enrollment is restricted to the Open Enrollment Period or if you experience a qualifying life event.
Short Term plans - These plans offer coverage for common health services (doctor office visits, emergency room, hospital inpatient) for a temporary length of time. Designed to be budget-friendly, but it does have some coverage and eligibility limitations.
See if ACA coverage could be right for you
If you have pre-existing conditions, take regular prescriptions or are generally looking for broader benefits, and ACA plan may be a better fit. Explore if an ACA Marketplace plan from UnitedHealthcare or another carrier in your area might be right for you.
